Taiwanese American Organization

Taiwanese American Organization at the University of Southern California was founded in 1995 as a social and cultural club that welcomed all USC students of all cultures. Today, student leaders have continually upheld TAO's mission while taking innovative strides to further the interests of its community.

TAO takes the role of integrating the Taiwanese culture with students of differentiated cultural backgrounds. It is also because of this mindset that TAO has, in its first few months of creation, enjoyed the enrollment of students from all over the world - including Brazil, Malaysia, and of course, the United States. The diversity that TAO enjoys makes it one of the best student organizations promoting the Taiwanese culture at USC - "THE" most ethnically and culturally diverse university in the United States.

While TAO has the primary focus of expanding the knowledge about Taiwan and its culture, it also puts great effort into tailoring its events and programs towards students of varied cultural backgrounds. This is to ensure that they are just as much of a learning experience for those new to the Taiwanese culture as a socializing and networking opportunity for all. In addition, USC TAO also aims at fostering leadership and looks forward to inspiring the community with its participation in the annual Intercollegiate Taiwanese Student Association (ITASA) conference. This is an event that gathers members and representatives of student organizations, in a conference setting, to endorse the Taiwanese culture and strengthen the bond between Taiwanese American students from universities around the US.
